In-Home Program: Services are provided in the family home. The family does not have to be at home during this time or depending on the service agreement, the LAP care provided may take the child out of the home for an activity. These hours are prescheduled to the families wishes / needs. The hours can be as little at 3 hours per week to as many as 24 hours per day.
Respite House Program: Services are provided at the LAP Respite House located near the LAP administrative office. Care can be provided for up to 6 children during non-school days, or 4 children on the weekends. LAP provides two trained care providers to be on staff for every hour a child is scheduled. This is a very popular program and fills up very quickly. LAP provides supervisors for on-call duties while children are on site. The Respite House carries a State of Michigan license as a daycare facility and is inspected regularly.
After School Program: Services are provided at the Beekman Center, which is part of the Lansing School District. The program is open whenever Beekman Center is open, including summer school. The hours during the regular school year are 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The summer hours are 12:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. This program holds a State of Michigan daycare license for up to 16 children ages 5 years to 26 years for any child in special education classes. The program director ensures there is a 3 to 1, Student - to - care provider ratio.
Payment for services can be made in several different ways; the Department of Community Mental Health, the Department of Human Services, Insurance, or Private Pay.
